Glamping summary
The Canvas Lodge at Cwmberach Uchaf is one of the tents that are located on this working farm that covers 80 acres on the beautifully wild Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Amazing views are offered by tents sited in a sheltered corner of the farm, of the Amman valley and the mountain.
The combination of animals to meet is very special, with unusual breeds of sheep, beehives for delicious home-grown honey, goats, and in spring lambs and piglets.
The farm has been in the same family for several generations but it was left for 15 years to return to nature and has become something of a nature reserve. The farmland has the variety you would hope for from a National Park: pasture, moorland, woodland, and mountain grazing, with a small river, the Berach, running through it, and with mountain springs and marshland dotted throughout. Badgers, foxes, owls, red kites and other endangered bird species still thriving. Cuckoos, now the fifth most endangered bird in the UK, visit every year. Access to the mountain and a bridleway lies only metres behind the tent site.
