Glamping summary
The Canvas Frills Lodge at New Barn Farm is one of eight tents that are located on this working farm just an hour from Greater London in the heart of Bedfordshire. On the border of Northamptonshire, the farm feels surprisingly remote, as it is one mile down a private track.
The family has a passion for animals and own a range of farmyard animals. There are three farm dogs, Poo the pig, pet sheep, Kunekune pigs, Pygmy goats, horses, ponies to groom, donkeys, and different types of ducks and chickens. The honesty shop provides a variety of homemade dishes and is well stocked with local produce. Any stay includes a tour of this working farm.
The eight tents face a six-acre field, Blackwell Hole and a livestock grazing field. Badgers can be seen at night sniffing round the trees, and you are likely to see foxes, owls, woodpeckers, and small stocky Muntjac deer from your tent. Horses can be brought to the farm but no dogs are allowed. The woodlands near the farm can be explored and there is a network of footpaths and grassy fields that provide ample space to walk, cycle, and picnic. There is also a large covered communal area for rainy days.
