Glamping summary

The Canvas Frills Lodge at Dolphinholme Farm is one of the tents that are located on this working farm on the edge of the Forest of Bowland in Lancaster. Only 20 minute from the coast, the tents at this dairy farm are positioned right next to the River Wyre where guests can swim or paddle. The farm has been in the same family for over 70 years and is a fantastic spot for a relaxing glamping holiday.

The farm is home to a diverse array of animals for guests to meet including the stars of the farm, the goats. Guests will learn a lot about goat farming including feeding them, caring for them, and milking goats. There are also hens, dogs, cats, ducks, and rabbits and any stay at Dolphinholme includes a tour of this working farm.

The farm is on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The tents are surrounded by a dramatic landscape of gritstone fells, deep valleys, and peat moorland that is home to a variety of upland birdlife. The farm has an area of deciduous woodland that can be explored and where children have been known to build many dens. There is a play barn with a giant slide, a sandpit, swings, and straw bales.

This farm is a fantastic natural playground for young and old alike. The play barn behind you will leave your local park in the shade, with its straw bales, swing, sandpit, and giant slide, while the more adventurous can explore the farm's deciduous woodland, which provides many opportunities for den building.

The farm has a well-stocked honesty shop that sells the farms goats' milk cheese and there is always fresh bread. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on the farm due to the fauna found on and around the farm.

Glamping description

The Canvas Lodge has its own wood powered outdoor hot tub and a private gas powered shower. There is a double bed, a bunk bed, and a single bed, sleeping a maximum of six guests. There is a flushing toilet, a hammock, deck chairs, an outdoor cooker, an extended canopy for a covered veranda, and cold running water. The lodge comes with a starter pack made up of wood for heating and cooking, starter pack candles, and lamp oil. Kitchen linen is provided and there is ample parking space.

The farm is 15 minutes from the coastline and close enough to the Lake District, and the Yorkshire Dales for day trips. The Blackpool funfairs are also within easy reach of the farm and the historical city of Lancaster and the seaside town of Morecombe are both nearby.

    Wonderful glamping time

We simply had an amazing time at this glamping. My four year old son loved the play farm and we all enjoyed the farm tour given by the owner.
