Glamping summary
The Canvas Frills Lodge at Hillside Farm is one of the tents that are located on this working farm found within five minutes' drive of Rhossili Bay. This beach was voted the best beach in the UK in 2014 and the third best beach in Europe. Views from the farm are outstanding as the farm lies within the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The family have farmed on this spot since 1840 and lambing still takes place from March until May. Guests can always help to bottle feed the lambs in spring. There are pygmy goats, 40 chickens, rabbits, and two dogs on the farm as well as the sheep on the 175 acres of farmland. There are also horses and cattle that roam free.
The tents are located in an orchard close to the farmhouse and the views stretch to the Gower Peninsular with many scattered hamlets and rocky outcrops. There is a kid's play area and a well-stocked honesty shop with Welsh cakes and many other home cooked treats. Dogs are allowed on the farm between July and September. Any stay includes a tour of this working farm.
Glamping description
The Canvas Frills Lodge has a double bed, a bunk bed, and a single bed, sleeping a maximum of six guests. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower and basin, a flushing toilet, deck chairs, an outdoor cooker, an extended canopy for the covered veranda, and cold running water. The lodge comes with a starter pack made up of wood for heating and cooking, starter pack candles, and lamp oil. Kitchen linen is provided and there is ample parking space.
There are 15 miles of coastline within reach of the farm and guests will not tire of the beautiful surroundings. The nearby beach is one of the best surfing spots in the UK and Rhossili Down is a great spot for mountain bikers. There is a beach shipwreck - the Helvetia and the Parkmill heritage centre for children is a great day trip. There are many pubs and restaurants within walking distance of Hillside and Swansea is close enough for day trips.
