Glamping summary
The Canvas Frills Lodge and hot tub at La Ferme de Penquelen is one of the tents that are located on this working dairy farm and organic farm in one in the heart of Brittany's countryside, at the foot of the Black Mountains. Quick from London, the farm is just 40 minutes from Quimper Airport, which now has direct London flights.
Glamping description
The Tents are to be found next to the forest, in a field with an animal paddock containing pigs, rabbits and more, most tents offering a view of the fields below. Don't be surprised on this lovely, tranquil farm, to find a cow standing next to your tent after it has been milked. Children can roam but may stop awhile on discovering "The Hut" at the edge of the forest, the hay barn with its new wooden indoor space to play, and the rope swing in the woods behind the tents.
There are superb walking and biking options on your glamping doorstep. Materials for den- and kids-size tepee- building are available. On the farm tour, guests can ask questions about the farm and learn more about the farming. The amenities are a very high standard, including the honesty shop and the showers.
The Canvas Frills Lodge has a double bed, a bunk bed, and a single bed, sleeping a maximum of six guests. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower and basin, a flushing toilet, deck chairs, an outdoor cooker, an extended canopy for the wooden floored covered veranda, and cold running water. The lodge comes with a starter pack made up of wood for heating and cooking, starter pack candles, and lamp oil. Kitchen linen is provided and there is ample parking space. Any stay includes a tour of this working farm.
The Brittany coastline is easily reached, a route taking in lovely Pont Aven, Concarneau's entrance to sandy beaches, and the picturesque lighthouse-guarded harbour of Doëlan. Quimper is a major draw, with its cathedral, old streets, and the July Cornouille Festival. Brittany's biggest event happens in Scaër itself, the end of May Cavalcade carnival festival.
