Glamping summary

Glamping description
Bell tents. Once used as accommodations for the military, now they're very popular on campings and glampings. And not for no reason. It's a very spacious accommodation, but it's still warm and cozy from the inside. Have a stay in this characteristic bell tent and go back in time for a moment!
A former army tent might sound down to earth, but trust us - luxury is provided as well! And it even comes with a kitchen, bathroom and terrace all for yourself! A bit more down to earth than at home, but still everything entirely for you. However, that doesn't mean that you won't meet other people on the glamping. Go to the swimming pool to cool off, and who knows what nice people you might meet.
THINGS TO DO
For the kids, this stay will be the time of their lives! There are a lot of animals to cuddle, such as sheep, goats, donkeys, little pigs, chickens, a cat, a dog and even a big turtle! You can even have a little ride on a donkey!
The beach is only 15 kilometers away, so you'll be there in no time. Once you're there, you have enough options for beaches; Sao Martinho do Porto, Salir do Porto or Foz do Arelho are all nearby. Are you on a holiday with the kids? No problem, there are enough beaches that are very suitable for kids. You can even learn how to surf at one of them! But otherwise, there are also places to enjoy the rough sea.
There's also a lot of culture to see close to the quinta. From the Seven Wonders of Portugal, three are within 30km distance! In Alcobaça you can find the biggest monastery in Portugal. Another monastery can be found in Batalha. And in Óbidos, there is a big medieval castle that is very well-preserved. All those are very imposant buildings and are definitely worth a visit!
Last but not least, the landscape makes this region a great place for hiking. The owners can provide you with hiking routes on request. And also for other questions, they're always willing to help!

How to get there
From Lissabon Airport you can take a bus to the bus station of Sete Rios. From there, another bus will bring you close to the quinta. Give the owners a call when this bus departs and they will pick you up from the bus stop.
If you come by car, the national A8 highway can bring you close to the quinta. Once you're off it, the quinta is a 20-minute drive away.
About the area
There's enough things to see and to do in the Costa de Prata area. There are a lot of beaches on the coastline, the choice is yours! Enjoy the rough sea at Praia de Nazare, a big beach to catch some wind on a hot day. Are you with the kids? You can also go to Sao Martinho do Porto, Salir do Porto or Foz do Arelho. The water is calmer and more pleasant, so that's definitely suitable for kids. At Foz do Arelho you can even learn how to surf if you like!
Don't feel like going to the beach? There is a big aquatics park in Nazaré as well, Norpark, with a lot of slides. Not feeling like going anywhere? The little swimming pool on the quinta might be just what you need.
It's not all beaches and swimming at the Costa de Prata. There's also a lot of culture to visit. In the city of Alcobaça, you'll find Mosteiro, the biggest monastery in Portugal, and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal! The place has a lot to do with the establishment of the state and therefore has a prominent position in Portugese history. Definitely worth a visit!
Other than the Mosteiro, you can find two other Wonders in the nearby region. Visit the Castle of Óbidos and see a fortified medieval town that is still very much intact, or go to to Batalha and see the big monastery from the 14th century.
As you can see, enough to do in the nearby region. Ask the owners if you need any information, they will gladly help you!

In October 2014 we (Lars and my son Fadi) moved from the still beloved Amsterdam, to a small village in the beautiful Central Portugal. We didn't want to leave the Netherlands so much, but we were lucky enough to be able to work at B&B , set up by my parents. We are glad to have taken that opportunity!
Although we do not live on the Quinta ourselves, but in the village about 4 minutes away, we are found on the Quinta on frequent basis. And if we are not there, we are always nearby. Look forward to see you at our Portugese glamping!
