About the area

Historic Landmarks of Lyon

The city of Lyon, often referred to as the culinary capital of France, is steeped in history and vibrant culture. Visitors can explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town (Vieux Lyon), where Renaissance architecture transports you back in time. Prominent landmarks such as the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, perched atop a hill, offer stunning views of the city and showcase exquisite mosaics and a serene ambiance. The ancient Roman theatres of Fourvière and the impressive Place des Terreaux, featuring the majestic Bartholdi Fountain, are also must-see sites that reflect Lyon's storied past.

Indoor Activities to Experience

When the weather outside is less than cooperative, Lyon boasts an array of indoor activities. Art enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the modern collections at the Musée d'Art Contemporain, while history buffs should not miss the interactive displays at the Musée des Confluences, which delves into the intersection of cultures and sciences. Food lovers can embark on a culinary adventure at Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, a bustling indoor market that's a feast for the senses, offering regional delicacies and gourmet treats.

Outdoor Adventures Await

For those who relish the outdoors, Lyon provides ample opportunities for exploration. The Lyon Parc de la Tête d'Or is a sprawling urban park that features beautiful gardens, a serene lake, and a notable zoo that is free to the public. Ideal for leisurely strolls, jogging, or a tranquil picnic, it’s an urban oasis. You can also take a bike ride along the Rhône River’s banks or venture on a scenic walk through the picturesque Monts d'Or, just a short distance from the city center.

Wildlife Experiences in the City

While Lyon is primarily known for its vibrant urban life, it also offers unique wildlife experiences. The Parc de la Tête d'Or is home to a variety of animal species, including deer, monkeys, and exotic birds, providing a charming respite for visitors of all ages. For those interested in a more natural setting, the nearby Rhône Valley is rich in biodiversity, perfect for nature walks and birdwatching opportunities. The region is also known for its vineyards, where wildlife often mingles among the grapevines and the scenic landscapes.

Dear Friends,

I love travelling so much... but I do not like standard hotels with 200 bedrooms all looking the same. I discovered BnBs 2 years ago and now we can't imagine traveling differently. I love meeting and welcoming people from all over the world and to help them in organizing their trip. It is always great to have the 'good deals' and places from people leaving in the town.

I hope to welcome you, help you, guide you and meet you soon.

My Moto : 'You'd rather live your dreams…
