About the area
Serra de São Mamede Natural Park
The natural park of Serra de São Mamede is rich in local history, scenery, and biodiversity. The area is excellent for walking, mountain biking, bird watching, and visiting Neolithic tombs and Roman ruins.
Outdoor Activities and Experiences
If you like outdoor activities, you can paddleboard at the dam, take the railbike along the disused train lines, or go horse riding along the old smuggling routes that the area is famous for.
Nearby Towns and Local Festivals
There are many small towns nearby offering a wide range of restaurants, including vegan options, a craft ale bar, and supermarkets.
There are also many local festivals to enjoy, including FIMM, the International Music Festival in July, and the Castanha, Chestnut, Festival in November, held in the very pretty nearby castle town of Marvão.

If you are looking for some luxury on your Portuguese camping adventure, we are here to welcome you! Originally from UK, we are now making the Alentejo our home with our fuss-loving moggy! Our valley is still a small piece of untamed Portugal, with wild swimming in the river, and a 360 degree view over the mountain. Its peace and quiet is amazing, and the 'dark' night skies and stars, a marvel. We look forward to welcoming you to share it all.
