Glamping summary

It's like a scene straight out of a fantasy movie: nestled under trees on a small private estate near the legendary Eildon Hills within the Scottish borders, The with its amazing Roulottes, inspired by the luxurious caravans of the ancient Indian maharadjas, offers you the chance to escape the constant and endless cycle of the city life.

Presented the Tourism Innovation Award for their great venture at the Scottish Tourism Conference in Edinburgh in March 2010, the place has a lot to offer to those who would like to experience the serenity of nature with the comfort of luxury.

The area is just three miles away from the towns of Melrose, Selkirk, St.Boswells and a few others. The famous salmon fishing river Tweed flows not far from the site and in fact one of its burns runs through the meadow in the campsite.

Glamping description

Set on the Scottish borders, the offers a great chance to escape city life. This place is ideal for a romantic stay but can also be a great experience for a stay with friends or family.

The , the first roulotte of the venture, has an oriental design with masterly carved peacock designs and beautiful paisley patterns. The inside of the reflects the rich natural shades of blue, green, purple and gold of the peacocks tail. The wooden floor has been dressed with richly handcrafted Rajasthani carpets imported from India and the elegant and whimsicle lamps create an aura of a fairytale.

The sleeping arrangements are original styled roulotte beds with cupboards below. To freshen up, one could use the state of the art stainless steel shower room. Oposite to it lies the toilet and wash basin. Heat is provided by a wood burning stove or the electric radiators.

Bed linens and towels are provided fresh on guests arrival. There is also a wide array of crockery and even eco gadgets to reduce your carbon footprint as the retreat has taken a pledge to be natures friend.

During a glamping experience at this quirky, mysterious and isolated place it is hard not to feel like a child exploring a fantasy world in the woods.

Back to nature in chic and romantic setting

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend in July. We weren't sure what to expect as we normally stay in hotels and fancied something a little different. The whole experience was magical! We didn't leave our roloutte as we wanted to fully relax, and we did! With no distractions from tv's we could sit and read, play board games and listen to the radio. We brought a selection of food and drink with us and made the most of being together. Getting back to nature in chic romantic settings was exactly what we needed! I almost wanted it to rain so we had no reason to go out and get the firs burning!
