Glamping summary

The Canvas Lodge at De Zeekraal in the Netherlands is one of the tents that are located on this working organic dairy sheep farm, situated in the eastern most village on the island of Terschelling near The Boschplaat national park, the Wadden Sea, and directly bordering on the dunes.

Any stay at De Zeekraal includes a tour of this working traditional Dutch dairy farm. The farm is home to almost 200 Friesian dairy sheep that occupy 15 hectares of grassland surrounding the farm. Guests can get involved with farm activities including the sheep shearing. This happens about three times a week and while shearing, the farmers will educate visitors about farming in the area and about the island.

The cows are kept in the nearby Vrouwenpolder nature reserve, which is very close to the farm. They stay there for most of the summer. Guests can visit the cows and reach the reserve very easily and it is not far away. Guests can also take a bike tour from the farm and the beach. The farm has a new stable with many horses and guests can help take care of the horses, walk with the ponies, or take riding lessons. The farm also has an original hayloft, the perfect place for children to play.

Glamping description

The Canvas Lodge has a double bed, a bunk bed, and a single bed, sleeping a maximum of five guests. There is a flushing toilet, deck chairs, an outdoor cooker, an extended canopy for a covered veranda, and cold running water. The lodge comes with a starter pack made up of wood for heating and cooking, starter pack candles, and lamp oil. Kitchen linen is provided and there is ample parking space.

As the farm is based on an island, it offers many ocean-based activities. There are many beaches to choose from for a relaxing day on the beach. The North Sea and the Wadden Sea meet on the islands shores and there are many beautiful places to visit and trips to take in the surrounding areas. The dunes directly behind the farm are perfect for hikes or bike rides.
