Glamping summary

The Retreat Lodge with Hot Tub at Chesters Farm is one of the tents that are located on this working farm found on the Scottish Border. The Channel 4 programme Country House Rescue recently documented the efforts to rejuvenate the house and grounds and the results of this work have made this a fantastic country retreat glamping spot.

Chesters is full of delightful nooks and crannies, the magical old walled garden a true centrepiece. The estate is home to cattle, roe deer, pheasants, partridges and buzzards, and has a garden on the banks of the sparkling River Teviot with a run of salmon and brown trout to fish for, as an extra.

Over the river, just 10 minutes by car or 5 minutes paddle on the river is Born in the Borders. This is a stunningly renovated visitor centre, with a cafe and restaurant set in one of the estate's old farm buildings. It is devoted to local produce in all its forms - everything from cashmere, to cheese and beer, even to boutique accessories. The centre also has a mini animal safari, a fort with slides, and climbing nets.

There is a wood burning stove for guests to use and a shop for essentials, although there are many local shops nearby. There is also a real ale microbrewery on site.

Glamping description

The lodge comes with a starter pack made up of wood for heating and cooking, starter pack candles, and lamp oil. Kitchen linen is provided and there is ample parking space. Any stay includes a tour of this working farm.

At the nearby local Ancrum Cross Keys pub, guests will find food served up by a Gordon Ramsey trained chef.

    Best non-flight holiday ever

OUR stay at this glamping was truly relaxing and we enjoyed every minute of it. Our kids are already asking when we're going back to the campsite that they rated as their 'best non flight holiday ever'.

    Fabulous location, great glamping

Had a great time at Chesters glamping. What a lovely location in the beautiful woodlands. Our kids loved exploring the area, and walking with the dog.
