Glamping summary
The Retreat Lodge with Hot Tub at Chesters Farm is one of the tents that are located on this working farm found on the Scottish Border. The Channel 4 programme Country House Rescue recently documented the efforts to rejuvenate the house and grounds and the results of this work have made this a fantastic country retreat glamping spot.
Chesters is full of delightful nooks and crannies, the magical old walled garden a true centrepiece. The estate is home to cattle, roe deer, pheasants, partridges and buzzards, and has a garden on the banks of the sparkling River Teviot with a run of salmon and brown trout to fish for, as an extra.
Over the river, just 10 minutes by car or 5 minutes paddle on the river is Born in the Borders. This is a stunningly renovated visitor centre, with a cafe and restaurant set in one of the estate's old farm buildings. It is devoted to local produce in all its forms - everything from cashmere, to cheese and beer, even to boutique accessories. The centre also has a mini animal safari, a fort with slides, and climbing nets.
There is a wood burning stove for guests to use and a shop for essentials, although there are many local shops nearby. There is also a real ale microbrewery on site.
